GeoIQ (formerly FortiusOne) launches GeoCommons 2.0

GeoCommons is a crowdsourced repository for data and maps created by users.  Since its launch in 2008, the site has over 28,000 users and 508,000 freely available data layers.  That activity has resulted in the sharing of over 2.5 million data sets and been used to create 9.5 million maps across the web.  The newly revamped GeoCommons.com site is the result of enhancements to the GeoIQ platform which.  Andrew Turner outlines some of the changes in his blog post “GeoCommons ’2.0′ – with more developer goodness.”  Source

Managing your Research Data

Most research data is now born digital. This means it is vulnerable, yet researchers are obliged to retain the data for up to 15 years in some cases. Good practice, in relation to the management of digital research data, guards against catastrophic loss and format obsolescence. This information session will focus on creating a data management plan.
