Open Access Publishing Seminar

You’re invited:

Find out the answers to these questions – What is Open Access? How does it benefit the author? What should I be looking for in a publisher?

Open Access enhances scholarly communication by making the results of publicly funded research available to all. Open Access reaches a wider audience and researchers often find that their work is more widely read and cited. As a result, publicly funded research has more impact and society as a whole benefits. Open Access journals are free to readers but some have author-side fees to cover publishing costs.

This session will give an overview of the various options available for providing Open Access, it will introduce some reputable open access publishers ( e.g. BioMed Central, PLoS, Hindawi ) and explain the financial support available from QUT Library to cover the cost of article processing fees for articles published by ‘Gold’ Open Access journals. Location: Gardens Point V714 Date: 17th November 2010 Time: 10am – 11am Speaker: Paula Callan Morning Tea will be provided.
